Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Tuesday said the outpost of Barangay 619 was an illegal obstruction on the sidewalk so it was torn down by members of the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW).

“Ang pagpapatupad ng batas sa Maynila ay pantay-pantay — walang mahirap, walang mayaman, walang palakasan (The implementation of the law in Manila is fair—no poor, no rich, no favorites),” Mayor Isko said in a Facebook post.

“Ang kalsada at sidewalk ay dapat magamit ng tao ng maayos. Huwag po sana natin lagyan o tayuan ang ating mga kalsada ng kahit na anong uri ng obstruction (The streets and sidewalks are for people to use.  Let us not construct or place obstructions on the streets),” he added.

The DEPW also checked the streets in Sta. Mesa and Sampaloc to make sure that they are free of any obstruction.
