CAVITE – Recent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients have a higher viral load compared to previous cases, Governor Jonvic Remulla said on Thursday (July 22).
Remulla cited data from experts at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute in Dasmariñas.
“Hindi natin alam o masabi kung ang new high load strain na ito ay dala ng tinatawag na Delta variant. Wala pong kapasidad ang Cavite para ma-identify ito (We don’t know and we can’t say if the new high load strain is caused by the Delta variant. Cavite has no capacity to identify it),” Remulla said in a Facebook post.
According to data posted by the governor, the province recorded 663 COVID-19 cases from July 17 to July 21.
Remulla reminded his constituents that a higher viral load can lead to more severe symptoms and faster transmission.
“Ngunit utik-utik pa rin ang bilang ng mga bakunado sa Cavite. Makupad ang vaccine supply mula sa DOH (The number of vaccinated residents in Cavite are inadequate. The delivery of vaccine supply from the Department of Health is slow).”
The provincial government continues to wait for the delivery of the Novavax doses it ordered which are expected to arrive by the end of August.
